Legal
Dealer agreement
Last updated October 26, 2026
This agreement is between Fuel Snooper ("Fuel Snooper") and the heating oil dealer applying to list on Fuel Snooper ("you").
1. Listing and approval
- You list only after a person at Fuel Snooper approves your application, including your certificate of insurance and current meter inspection.
- You keep your licenses, insurance (at least the legal minimums shown during signup) and meter certification current, and send renewals before they expire. We may pause your listing if a document lapses.
- I authorize Fuel Snooper to contact my insurance agent or insurer, by phone (including an automated, recorded call) or email, to confirm the coverage shown on my certificate, and I authorize them to confirm it. (Given when you tick the box in your application.)
2. Prices and ranking
You set your own price per gallon, delivery fee and minimum. We send your posted price to requests in your delivery area, rank every offer by total cost to the customer, and never sell placement in that ranking.
3. Orders and delivery
- Confirm or decline new orders promptly. Deliver within the window you offered, or tell the customer early.
- Record the gallons from your meter ticket for every delivery. The customer is charged for those gallons, up to the amount they approved.
- You are the seller of the fuel and are responsible for the delivery, including safe filling, spills and the quality of the product.
4. Payment to you
- Customers pay through Fuel Snooper. Payouts go to your bank through Stripe Connect after each delivery is paid.
- Card processing (about 2.9% + 30¢) and bank processing (0.8%, capped at $5) are deducted from each payout at the rates shown in your portal. The customer pays our booking fee separately.
- If a customer's bank returns a payment, Fuel Snooper collects it; your payout for that order is sent when it is recovered.
- Any listing fee or paid add-on is shown in your portal and agreed separately before it applies.
5. Customers and data
Use customer details only to quote, deliver and service the order. Don't market to Fuel Snooper customers using information you received through Fuel Snooper unless they become your customer directly.
6. Delivering in New Jersey
- Hold any New Jersey registration or license your business needs, and keep each truck's meter registered, sealed and inspected by New Jersey Weights and Measures.
- Give the customer a delivery ticket with every delivery showing the date, gallons delivered, price per gallon and total price, and enter the same gallons in Fuel Snooper.
- Keep auto and liability insurance that meets New Jersey minimums (and the federal minimum for your trucks) and covers deliveries in New Jersey.
- Follow the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act in anything you tell customers about your price, delivery or product.
7. Ending the agreement
Either side may end this agreement with notice. Orders already accepted are completed and paid under these terms. We may pause or remove a listing for lapsed documents, repeated missed deliveries or unsafe practices.
